The Hope Foundation was founded in 1999 by Maureen Forrest of Cork, Ireland, in order to help and support the street and slum children. HOPE’s aim was to be, “an organisation dedicated to promoting the protection of street and slum children primarily in Kolkata (Calcutta), and the most underprivileged in India, to promote immediate and lasting change in their lives.”

15 years on, HOPE has reached out to almost 30,000 children through education alone, over 200,000 individuals through HOPE’s community healthcare programmes as well as being the primary care giver to over 2,500 children on a daily basis.

HOPE supports over 60,000 families living on the streets and in the slums of Kolkata by providing education for children, access to healthcare for women & children, counselling, care, protection, drug rehabilitation for children, vocational training, anti-trafficking programmes and a human hand to hold in the most difficult times.

Under Maureen’s leadership and dedication, HOPE has grown from a small organisation of only 8 projects and 24 staff members to an organisation which runs 64 projects alongside the assistance of 16 grass root organisations, and employs 776 staff. Maureen has also established branches of HOPE in the United Kingdom, Germany, India and the USA. Maureen continues to work tirelessly, on a voluntary un-salaried basis, in Ireland and India motivating and encouraging others to be the change we all want to see in the world.

We feel incredibly honoured to be working with an organisation that is affecting real change the way the Hope Foundation is and so to hear they are just as happy to be partnered with us meant a great deal.

Thank you Kathy.  You can’t imagine how we feel to think that a company like Moeloco in Australia is partnering with us. Whilst the impact in Kolkata is amazing, we always consider ourselves to be small- it is quite a “family” focused organisation with us all being within “shouting distance” in the offices and so we are incredibly proud that a brand like yours has taken us under your wing. Again, thank you!!
