The flip flop has been worn for thousands of years, with paintings of the sandals in ancient Egypt and gaining popularity in the US in the 1950’s during the Post War boom when soldiers brought home Japanese Zori with them. They even crop up in our daily use of language where the term ‘flip-flopping’ indicates an about-turn or complete change of opinion.
